Live In Caregiver
One may ask what is the point of moving into a senior center if I have a live in caregiver? After all, what is the retirement home going to provide for me that the live in caregiver won?t be able to? This is a good question and thank you for asking it. Well, there are a few things that make it worth having a live in caregiver while living in a retirement home instead of having a live in caregiver in ones own home. The first is social. While a live in caregiver can help a person with their daily physical needs, the social needs are lacking if living one your own. The caregiver is just one person and who knows if the two of you will get along and even if you do it?s better to interact with more than just one person. Living in an assisted living community allows one to have a better social life than if a person lived alone (even with a caregiver).
Secondly, accidents happen. The caregiver might have an emergency, might feel sick and might not be able to provide a service which you need. It?s always good to have backup and in an assisted living home there are many caregiver and staff at the retirement home so if your personal caregiver is absent or unable to help you with something someone else will.
Lastly, depending on the caregiver and depending on how much assistance a person needs sometimes one caregiver isn?t enough. Hiring two caregivers is very expensive and at that price it makes sense to move into an assisted living community since one gets so much more in a retirement home without having to pay much more than one would pay for hired help. Plus, at Amber Court, there are live in caregivers available, so a person can have all the help they need without having to sacrifice one?s social needs.
